Flowing Fists Is Official: Mega Lucario Z ex Arrives February 5, 2027
The next English Mega Evolution set finally has a name, and Lucario fans are going to love it. News broke on October 20 that the seventh main English set of the Mega Evolution era is called Flowing Fists, and it arrives on Friday, February 5, 2027. It is the English edition of Aura Seeker, the Japanese set landing November 27, and its cover card is Mega Lucario Z ex, the first Z Mega Evolution in the TCG, first shown at Worlds in August.
The Dates Are Set
Prerelease events run from January 23 to January 31, 2027, giving players a first chance to open the set ahead of release day. Japan moves first, as usual. Aura Seeker releases there on November 27, and its full reveal is expected within the next week or so, so most of the English card list should be public months ahead. After Delta Reign on November 6, February belongs to Lucario.
The Cover Card
Mega Lucario Z ex is card 058 of 080 in the set, a Metal type Stage 1 with 330 HP that evolves from Riolu. Its Ability, Aura Seeker, lets you search your deck for a Supporter card once during your turn while it is in the Active Spot, and that consistency is gold for players. Dancing Fist costs two Metal Energy and does 120 damage, plus 120 more when the defending Pokemon is a Pokemon ex. Like every Mega Evolution ex, it gives up three Prize cards when it is Knocked Out.
Its Riolu is worth a look on its own. Riolu is card 045 of 080, a Fighting type Basic with 80 HP and a simple Rear Kick for 30, and its night artwork by SENZAKI MAKOTO is one of the prettiest commons in recent memory. This one earns its binder spot.
A Built In Answer
Every set with a headline Mega needs a plan against Megas, and Flowing Fists ships with one. Sigilyph ex is card 032 of 080, a Psychic type Basic with 210 HP. Its Ability, Mega Protection, prevents all damage done to it by attacks from your opponent's Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, which makes it a genuine wall in a format full of huge attackers. Power Cyclone does 140 damage for three Energy and moves an Energy to one of your Benched Pokemon, so it can pressure back while it sets up your board.
A Name With History
The set name is a love letter to longtime players. Flowing Fists points straight back to XY Furious Fists from 2014, the set headlined by M Lucario EX. That Lucario was a Fighting type, while the Z form is Metal, which matches Lucario and its Fighting and Steel typing in the video games. Thirteen years apart, the same Pokemon carries two sets with rhyming names.
Flowing Fists also continues the recent small set pattern. Like Perfect Order, Chaos Rising, and Pitch Black before it, the set is built closely from a single Japanese set, with 80 cards in the main set and around 40 secret rares expected on top. Smaller lists have a real upside, because a master set feels reachable again.
What To Watch Next
The full Aura Seeker reveal in Japan, more English card images, and the Flowing Fists product lineup are all ahead of us, and each will sharpen the picture of what to chase. Prerelease seats and release week stock for popular sets can move quickly, so it pays to plan early if Lucario is on your list. February 5 is circled on our calendar already.
