The Full Art Rayquaza Is Missing From Delta Reign Packs

The full English set list for Delta Reign is public, and Prerelease events are running now, from October 24 to November 1, ahead of the November 6 release. One detail stopped a lot of collectors mid scroll. When you line the English list up against its Japanese sources, three cards from Japan will not be pulled from English packs at all.

The headliner lost one of its prints

When the first Delta Reign details landed, this blog counted four Mega Rayquaza ex prints to chase: regular, full art Ultra Rare, Special Illustration Rare, and gold Mega Hyper Rare. The final list trims that to three. The full art Ultra Rare is not in the set.

The regular Mega Rayquaza ex at 084/103 very much is, and it is a beauty. It carries 280 HP, and its Ability, Ruler's Roar, pulls a Basic Energy out of the top four cards of your deck when it lands on the Bench. Its attack, Storm Emerald, does 50 damage for each Fire Energy and each Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokemon. The Special Illustration Rare and the gold Mega Hyper Rare also made the trip, so the top of the chase ladder is intact. What is gone is the middle rung, the print that plenty of collectors aim for first.

Reports from PokeBeach and Wargamer point to the likely reason: the full art is probably being held back for a future boxed product. Nothing has been announced yet, so English collectors will simply meet this print later, in a different wrapper.

Eevee ex sits this one out, but Eevee does not

Delta Reign blends two Japanese sources: Storm Emeralda, which released in Japan on July 31, and the three MEGA Starter Set ex decks that launched beside it. The decks gave the English set the Meowscarada ex and Zoroark ex lines, and their full art cards became Illustration Rares in English, including Sprigatito at 105/103, Zorua at 112/103, and Eevee at 114/103.

One deck card did not survive the trip: the regular Eevee ex. Eevee fans still get a lovely Illustration Rare to hunt, so the Eevee story in this set stays a happy one. It is simply worth knowing before you open packs that the ex itself is not hiding in them.

Kyogre trades packs for an Elite Trainer Box

The third move is gentler. The Kyogre Illustration Rare from Storm Emeralda leaves the pack lineup and becomes the promo inside the Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box, numbered MEP 117. Its old rival Groudon keeps an Illustration Rare in the set proper, so the two weather legends arrive by different roads this time. If you collect the pair, the Elite Trainer Box just became part of the hunt rather than an extra.

Plenty still lands in packs

None of this shrinks the set much. Delta Reign runs 103 cards in its main set and 141 once the secret rares are counted, with 14 Illustration Rares, 17 Ultra Rares, and 6 Special Illustration Rares. Enamorus at 110/103, illustrated by Taira Akitsu, is one of the prettiest Illustration Rares in years, all snow and soft pink above the clouds. The three Legendary Stadiums still ask you to play both halves of one wide illustration, and the Supporter Grisham even joins from a Japanese Gym promo pack.

Prerelease weekend is the first chance to hold these cards in English, and the full hunt opens on November 6. Go in knowing which Rayquaza prints your packs can hold, and Delta Reign still has plenty of sky to chase.
