Delta Reign's Full Set List Is Out, and Rayquaza Is the Card to Chase

The full Delta Reign set list is finally public, and the picture is clear. The sixth Mega Evolution set arrives November 6, with prerelease events starting October 24, and it is headlined by a Pokemon that has not carried a set like this in a decade. Mega Rayquaza ex is back, and it brought friends.

Rayquaza Takes the Spotlight

Mega Rayquaza ex appears four times in Delta Reign: the regular print at 084/103, a full art Ultra Rare, a Special Illustration Rare by Kazuki Minami, and a gold Mega Hyper Rare. The Special Illustration Rare art comes from the winner of the 2024 Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest, and it shows.

In Japan, where the sister set Storm Emeralda released July 31, the gold Mega Hyper Rare has been the most expensive card in the set, changing hands around $946 USD ($1,345 CAD) on the Japanese market in early October, with the Special Illustration Rare around $324 USD ($461 CAD). Those are Japanese prices, and English prices will find their own level once the set is out, but the pecking order is hard to miss.

On the card itself, Mega Rayquaza ex carries 280 HP, the Ruler's Roar Ability that digs for Energy when it hits the Bench, and the Storm Emerald attack that deals 50 damage for each Fire Energy and each Lightning Energy attached to all of your Pokemon. It is a card that asks you to build around it, and that is exactly the kind of chase card that keeps a set exciting.

Six Special Illustration Rares to Track

Beyond Rayquaza, the set has five more Special Illustration Rares: Mega Golisopod ex, Raikou ex, Mega Golurk ex, and two Supporters, Aarune and Zinnia's Trust. Raikou ex is the only one with a confirmed English collector number so far at 136/103, with art by Oku. Zinnia's Trust is a fitting inclusion, since Zinnia and Rayquaza are tied together all the way back to the Delta Episode. If you are planning a master set, these six are the hardest part of the hunt.

The Rest of the Set Is No Filler

Delta Reign holds more than 135 cards, with 14 Illustration Rares and 17 Ultra Rares alongside the six Special Illustration Rares. The Illustration Rare lineup includes Eevee at 114/103, Enamorus at 110/103, Magmortar at 107/103, and Zorua at 112/103, giving binder collectors plenty to chase below the top tier.

One note: the Kyogre Illustration Rare that first appeared in Storm Emeralda was cut from the English set and will instead be the Elite Trainer Box promo, so ETB buyers get a bonus card that is not in packs. Prerelease Build and Battle Boxes come with one of four foil promos: Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus, or Kommo-o. The set is also the first since Phantasmal Flames to pull from more than one Japanese source, combining Storm Emeralda with cards from the MEGA Starter Decks.

What to Do Before Prerelease

Prerelease events run October 24 through November 1, the set lands on Pokemon TCG Live on November 5, and the full release follows on November 6. If Rayquaza is on your list, the prerelease is the first chance to pull the new cards in English, and singles listings usually follow within days of release. Keep an eye on the Special Illustration Rares early, since the first weeks of a set tend to set the tone for where prices settle.
